This project presented a unique design and engineering challenge: creating a fully green hanging garden with an irregular, non-typical geometry, suspended above a pedestrian walkway.
Rather than functioning as a conventional shade, the garden was designed to float above the pathway and provide natural shade, transforming the walkway into an immersive green experience. The complex shape required a customized approach to the planting system, structure, irrigation, drainage, and long-term maintenance.
One of the key technical requirements was to maintain a lush, continuous green surface while ensuring that no drainage water drips onto the walkway below. A carefully integrated water-management system was therefore developed within the suspended garden, allowing plants to receive the water they need while capturing and controlling excess water out of sight.
The result brings together landscape, architecture, and engineering to turn an unconventional overhead structure into a living canopy—providing shade, greenery, and a distinctive experience for people walking beneath it.
